these days with baby z.
oh boy. are things ever getting to be real now. 30 weeks sounds ever so much closer to 40 weeks than 29 weeks doesn't it? it's like a whole different world!
i'm definitely feeling VERY pregnant, but still pretty good all things considered. thank goodness for my wonderful husband who is basically taking on the entire nursery renovation by himself, and not complaining one little bit. the man is a saint. a handy, hard-working saint. everyone should marry and have babies with someone like him, i highly recommend it.
we have a lot of fun to look forward to in the next 10 weeks. baby showers, a cabin trip, catching up with friends over grill-outs, and finishing up all the fun leading up to my sister's wedding. since it's probably going to stay hot up here in the tundra, i'm also planning on clocking as much pool time as possible. it's going to be an amazing way to spend our last days as non-parents.

how far along: 30 weeks.
how i’m feeling: i'm not quite sure how to explain this, but this week i started to feel like i could just feel my entire body, inside and out, whenever i move. it's probably because i'm feeling more crowded than ever before. can a person feel crowded in their own body? because i do. it's the most i've ever felt like my body is not "mine" during this pregnancy. and that's okay. it's just very odd.
total weight gain: as of my 28 week appointment, i've gained 19 pounds. i'm about as normal as you can possibly get. although i'm questioning where all of it is...my face, arms and legs are all still their usual size, so somehow all 19 pounds are hanging out in my belly area. it's very odd i tell you!
baby z.’s size: it’s a cabbage baby now. meaning that baby z. weighs about as much as an cabbage (around 3 pounds) and is almost 16 inches long. i'm just trying to figure out how someone that small can make me look like i'm smuggling a basketball inside my shirt.
this week: well, this week i had to do my 3-hour glucose test. here's a tip for you all: when you take the first glucose test, DO NOT EAT AN APPLE an hour before you drink the sugar drink. it will cause you to fail the test, which means you'll have to do the 3-hour test. and i wouldn't wish that on anyone. you have to fast for 8 hours before you start the test, get your blood drawn, then choke down another sugar drink, grosser than the first. then you need to wait an hour before they draw your blood again. then you wait an hour before they draw your blood again. and then you wait yet another hour before they draw your blood AGAIN. and you can't eat or drink this whole time. by hour three, i was just about ready to pass out (or throw up, my body wasn't sure). the good news is, i passed! no gestational diabetes, normal blood sugar levels, all good things. but let me tell you, i will do it right next time.
maternity clothes: dresses are my best friend right now. so are maternity tanks paired with jackets or cardigans. one thing i can't figure out is why they don't make more maternity workout clothes. i'm being forced to wear stretchy shorts and rolled down regular spandex, and stretching out my regular t-shirts anytime i want to work in the yard or do a workout. it's not cool man! i'd love some affordable maternity workout clothing to appear right now.
sleep: this is a total hit or miss right now. some nights it's wonderful, and i sleep through the night, no problem. some nights, i feel like i barely close my eyes before waking for some reason or another. it's like bedtime russian roulette.
best moment this week: hearing my husband say that he loved my big belly. because it is big. and so hearing him say out loud that he loves it, that makes me happy. it makes me feel like walking around with my belly out all the time, showing it off. and at 30 weeks, you need that kind of feeling now and again.
movement: if the amount of moving this kid does is any indication of their activity when they come out, we might be in trouble. because this baby never. stops. moving. sometimes to the point where my stomach actually feels tired! but i do love it so.
food cravings: i may have to get back on the sauerkraut train soon, for reasons that i'm too polite to talk about on this blog (coughdigestioncough), but i'm totally eating ice cream multiple times a week too.
food aversions: still no aversions, but there is this new fun thing that i'm experiencing, called pregnancy heartburn. it hasn't shown up until now, i think it might be from eating tomatoes, and i've decided it's the worst. it has me wanting to eat tums all the time! ms. margaret thinks it means our baby will have lots of hair, but that would be a miracle...Mister Man and i were both bald until we were two.
belly button in or out: oh, it's out and proud now. it gave up a couple weeks ago, just up and decided it wanted to be an outie from now on. such is life.
my bellybutton finally gave up today.

looking forward to: my first baby shower with my dad's side of the family this sunday!
that belly style post is in the works, i'm thinking next week sounds good. i've just got to get photographic proof of my favorite outfit combos. those essays are still in my head, but they're coming along too. hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
